Online payment or cash on delivery in Tunisia: a merchant decision guide
Choose payment methods around customers, products, cash needs and follow-up. Distinguish successful payment from settled funds, test Flouci and cash-on-delivery workflows, and use an illustrative comparison without making claims about the whole Tunisian market.

Do not start by assuming every customer wants cash on delivery or that electronic payment solves everything. Product type, trust, supply capacity and cash needs shape the choice. You may use both methods or begin with one you can operate well. Always distinguish order creation, payment acceptance, delivery and funds available in your account. One can occur without the others being complete, so each path requires an understandable follow-up process.
Examine the order before comparing fees
An available lightweight item differs from customised production or high-value goods. Identify when you incur a nonrecoverable cost, when stock is confirmed and what cancellation means. Do not request advance payment without explaining availability and timing. Equally, do not accept cash-on-delivery orders without funding purchasing and shipping. The method should fit the commitment you actually make.
Ask customers what prevents payment: an unsuitable payment method, insufficient trust or a technical error? Clear information or a repaired journey may resolve something mistaken for a universal preference. Record observations without presenting ten conversations as statistics describing all Tunisian shoppers.
Cash on delivery requires funding and follow-up
You generally finance goods and preparation before collecting money. Confirm contact details and collection amount, then track delivery, refusal and payout. A delivered order is not necessarily money received. Collected amounts may require reconciliation against fees and discrepancies. Assign that work rather than waiting until the end of a busy month to discover unexplained differences.
Confirm the total before shipping, especially after a quantity or offer change. If a customer changes a selection by phone, update the order and inform preparation rather than leaving a separate conversation. Verbal confirmation does not eliminate refusal risk. Nor does every unsuccessful shipment establish fraud: an address, timing or unclear product information may be responsible.
Electronic payment has a separate admission process
The native Matjri provider discussed here is Flouci. Review acceptance, documents and contract through its official onboarding guide. Opening a store does not guarantee provider acceptance, and another Tunisian provider existing does not mean it is natively integrated. Keep private credentials in their dedicated settings, not product descriptions or documents shared with the entire team.
Use Flouci’s current testing instructions before receiving real money. Check amount, currency, return from checkout and status verification. Do not mix test and production credentials or use a real card for an ill-defined experiment. Ask the provider which payment methods your account supports. Passing one test does not prove every possible method works.
Compare the cash cycle with an example
Assume twenty orders at 50 TND and goods costing 25 TND per unit. Preparing all twenty requires 500 TND in merchandise. If sixteen are delivered, their product value is 800 TND before fees. The gap between 1,000 and 800 TND is not automatically final loss: you must determine what happened to the four units, which costs were incurred and whether stock can be recovered.
In a fictional electronic-payment path, sixteen successful payments do not mean 800 TND has immediately reached your bank. Fees, settlement and refunds follow your account conditions. Compare processing, service, failures and time, then ask when cash becomes available. No universal commission or settlement period is established by this example.
Use a practical decision matrix
| Question | Check |
|---|---|
| Is the product ready? | Supply before accepting the commitment |
| Can the customer pay? | Methods genuinely accepted |
| Can I fund the wait? | Supplier and collection dates |
| Are exceptions assigned? | Failure, duplicate, refusal and refund |
| Can I explain the status? | Separate order and transaction references |
You can organise orders and test available Matjri payment settings according to your permissions and provider account. Run an example through each path on a phone and in management. Write guidance for someone who says they paid while the order remains pending, including who verifies without requesting card secrets or verification codes.
A screenshot alone is not shipping evidence
Verify the transaction reference and state through a trusted process. Flouci verification documentation distinguishes success, pending and failed payments, as well as payment and settlement. If the result remains uncertain, explain that you are checking instead of immediately requesting another payment. Uncoordinated retries can create two payments and more support work.
Does online payment prevent returns?
No. Defects, incompatibility and exchanges can occur after a successful payment. An appropriate after-sales process is still necessary under your commitments and applicable rules. Receiving payment does not end the relationship.
Should I remove cash on delivery after adding Flouci?
Not automatically. Review actual completed outcomes, operational capacity and customer feedback. Explain available options without pushing someone towards a method unsuitable for them.
What should I do first?
Draw both paths from order creation to available money and assign each exception. Then test with your details and collect provider and courier conditions in one place, rather than deciding from an isolated fee comparison.
