A useful delivery address lets someone who does not know the customer find the location without guessing. The governorate, locality, detailed directions and contact number must fit together. A neighbourhood name alone or a note saying near the mosque can remain ambiguous; selecting a governorate does not validate the remaining text. Collect what is needed for delivery rather than the largest possible amount of personal information.
Understand what each address element does
The governorate helps route the shipment, the delegation or locality narrows the area, and the street, number or access description identifies the delivery point. A landmark can help when it resolves ambiguity, but should not replace the locality. Apartment deliveries may need a residence name, floor or agreed access instructions, without unrelated personal details.
Use the official Tunisian Post postal-code search to check the relevant locality. Do not invent a code because another neighbourhood has a similar name. A postcode alone does not establish every part of the address either. Ask the customer to clarify conflicting information before choosing a correction.
Ask a targeted question about the missing detail
Read what the customer already entered. If the governorate is clear but the locality is missing, ask for that locality. If a street lacks an identifiable entrance, request a number or useful landmark. One precise question is easier to answer than a long message asking for name, phone and the whole address again.
A respectful message might say: “To send your order to the right place, could you confirm the delegation and neighbourhood?” Do not suggest an area and save it as though the customer approved. When correcting information over a call, read back the completed version before saving it so the correction does not introduce another misunderstanding.
Check the contact and delivery location together
Confirm whether the order phone is the number that will receive the driver’s call. The purchase might be a gift or received by someone else. Record an alternative recipient or number where necessary and agreed, rather than collecting family contacts without a reason. Distinguish workplace from home because receiving arrangements can depend on the day.
- Confirm governorate and locality without unclear abbreviations.
- Review street, number or usable access directions.
- Add a landmark if it resolves a real ambiguity.
- Confirm recipient and contact if different from the buyer.
- Read the full address back and save the outcome.
A customer’s preferred time is not a guaranteed delivery appointment. Pass the preference to the provider and confirm the service. A provider’s documentation, such as the INTIGO FAQ, or your actual account contact can help you ask the right destination-specific questions before promising a time.
An example: correcting the address before dispatch
A fictional store sells an item for 45 TND with 7 TND delivery, making the agreed total 52 TND. An order contains a neighbourhood name used in several places but no delegation. Rather than choosing the nearest-looking result, the merchant pauses shipment creation, asks for clarification, then saves governorate, locality, street and an agreed landmark.
The business previously had two returns caused by incomplete addresses, at an illustrative 7 TND each: 14 TND. That does not establish that the new check automatically saves the same amount. Successful delivery still needs to be observed. The 52 TND customer total stays unchanged after the correction unless a changed delivery offer is explicitly agreed.
Use a contradiction checklist
| Order information | Question | Action |
|---|---|---|
| Governorate conflicts with address text | Old choice or typing mistake? | Confirm before changing |
| Neighbourhood alone | Which locality and entrance? | Ask specifically, do not guess |
| Phone belongs to another person | Who will receive the parcel? | Record the agreed contact |
| Workplace on a closed day | Can someone receive it? | Coordinate with both parties |
Preserve the original wording or the correction reason when your team needs an audit trail. Standardising spaces and spelling can improve readability, but cannot verify an incomplete location. Never replace a locality simply because a tool suggests a similar-looking name.
Send the correction to the operational record
Before dispatch, update the order used by the packing team. Once a parcel is with the courier, follow that operator’s address-change procedure and check any effect on destination or charges. Editing your store record alone does not prove that the driver received the change, especially after a shipping label has been generated.
Matjri order tools can keep delivery details with the order reference. Restrict phone and address visibility to people who need it, and avoid posting customer labels in public groups. After changing your address form, review the first shipments to find fields that customers still misunderstand.
Questions before sending the parcel
Can a map location replace an address?
It may help if the customer agrees and the provider can use it. It does not always replace a locality, readable directions and phone number. Save information that can actually reach the delivery service.
Should every field be mandatory?
Request what the location requires. A clearly numbered street and an unnumbered area may need different levels of detail. Extra unnecessary fields can make ordering harder without improving delivery.
What should I examine today?
Review ten cases where the delivery location could not be found. Identify the missing detail in each, improve the most frequently unclear question, and monitor new shipments after that change.
